Beautiful coastal cottage gardens nestled on the beach

These exclusive thatched holiday cottages located on the beach front on Ireland’s East Coast are part of Boyne Valley garden trail, right in the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East. The Cottages Ireland offer luxury holiday accommodation in the unique surroundings of landscaped cottage and coastal gardens. Enter into our dreamy thatched haven with it’s large organic flower borders and features. Each cottage has a special individuality and is named accordingly… Thatcher’s Rest, Rose Cottage, The Apple Loft, Little Orchard or Garden Cottage gives you an insight into their unique charm and character which is complimented by the planting and layout of the surrounding garden design.

Whether you come on holiday, for a short break or on a garden visit you will receive a warm Irish welcome of hot, home-made scones and jam. Each of the luxury holiday cottages has been lovingly renovated by owners Roger and Liz Pickett as have the gardens and garden features. The Cottages are exceptional in every way so why not come and be captivated by their magic.

Highlights

The gardens are extra special right through the year from the Snowdrops in January to the start of the daffodils in February, then comes the abundance of Spring with the Apple Blossom, Tulips, Aquilegia, Lunaria and Narcissi putting on a glorious display. The early summer the herbaceous borders are a joy, with the blousy Bearded Iris and the Echium Candican always the eye catchers. Summer colour abounds, where do you start? with the Roses, Phlox, Alstromeria and Lychnis or the Agapanthus, Kniphofia and grasses? Where ever you start they all blend together to form a wonderful tapestry. Autumn is our favourite time of year with the Salvia, Dahlia and Asters bringing us right up to the first frosts.

The Cottages with their wonderful rooves thatched in reed are a work of art in themselves both inside and out, why not come on a short break and experience them first hand. Around the gardens you’ll find our water features, green houses and dry stone walling which together with wood carvings by the talented wood sculpture Tommy Craggs are all a talking point.
